About

Hello!  I am so glad you are here!  I am Natalie and here are few things about me!  I am a native to Colorado and no I don't get all hoity toity about it (well most of the time... there are those people that push my buttons), if you live here you know what I'm talking about. I love a good brownie - not pot brownies! Just chocolatey goodness and all the ingredients that make them amazing! I used to be a cat person and then we got this beautiful Australian Shepherd mix and she converted me to be a dog and cat person.  She was the best dog ever!  I love hiking when I get the chance and I wish I had 2 secret days that no one knew about so I could have a proper weekend. I have a wonderful husband and 3 lovely grown children and 2 wonderful granddaughters!  I can't believe all of this has gone so quickly!  I don’t just consider myself a wedding photographer or a portrait photographer, I consider myself an artist that uses a camera to create.  On every job, I am still so excited I get to go out and photograph.  I feel like as a wedding photographer, it helps my portrait photography.  I notice the in-between moments because at weddings I am constantly poised to anticipate something wonderful.  As a wedding photographer I feel like portrait photography helps me with posing of group formals and it helps to get people to smile and look at the camera.  As an artist, I love everything about what I do!  I really appreciate the center pieces, table settings, different lighting settings, the moment before a smile breaks out, the messed up hair of kiddos playing and such things at weddings.  I love the small tender moments of a parent brushing hair off of their kiddos forehead, or how they hold hands or the toothless smiles or the look a groom gives his bride or when little kids are awed by the cake.  And as a human being who couldn’t enjoy being around so many situations where there is so much love, amazement, fascination and tenderness?  I love being around families and their diverse displays of affection.  I adore all these moments and I really love it when I can capture them!  I have been photographing weddings, portraits and high school seniors for over 20 years and loving all of it!  Photographing is one my favorite things to do, ever since childhood.  I remember going on hikes with my parents and constantly hounding them for the camera.  I even wanted to take pictures through the binoculars so that I could get a closer view; they never really went for that...  My first encounter with a professional photographer was when one of my aunt’s friends came on a hike with us, he took lots of images of our day.  The one that made me think different about a photograph and a camera and what or how you could use a photograph, was one of me inspecting a rock through my aunt’s crystal magnifying glass.  I was amazed at how I looked, how unaware I was of the camera and in my own world – and how the image portrayed that.  I remember the moment perfectly, I was amazed at what I was seeing in the magnifying glass and he captured that amazement and intense inspection of what I was looking at.  To me, it created more fascination, amazement and enchantment for photography.  I felt like there was this magical moment where we were both entranced and amazed at the same thing from different perspectives.  And today, these images of people unaware of the camera are my favorites!
