Our Story
Vertallee is an Austin, Tx based stationery studio offering affordable, accessible invitations, reception stationery. brand collateral and custom design. Specializing in events, we design and produce all paper goods, from save the dates to seating charts, with price points for all. We also offer design and/or print—only services to those with a vision who simply seek production.
Kat and Brad Murph launched Vertallee in Austin in 2007. After several years printing band posters and friends’ invitations on a small basement press in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, they could tell it was time to embrace the return to Brad’s homeland. Austin was just beginning to boom and the timing was perfect. Landing in East Austin, we found a neighborhood of families, hipsters. students, artists, grandparents and the occasional horse.
Kat provides creative direction and printmaking expertise. With an MFA in Print Media from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her print experience brings a ne art aesthetic to collaborations. Prior to Vertallee, Kat spent a decade+ in graphic design and event production in Chicago, working with the Oprah Show and Good [)av Chicago.
Brad directs production and executes every job with precision and a critical eye. His background in commercial letterpress provides an extensive skillset around the antique and complicated components of the press room. Invaluable, as 19th century presses don’t come with tech support.
Our Name
Mildred Verta and Sylvia Lee are the grandmothers and namesakes of Vertallee. Mildred was a seamstress, and her handwork is present in h Clothes slw made that we hold and admire wda A printed card is a piece of the present that can be passed along, held and admired, decades after being created.
Vertallee is a toast to these strong women, whose creative skills and spirits ground us and lead us onward!
