About

The Maverick Carter House hosts several educational events throughout the year.  Our focus includes those passions of Aline Carter: Poetry, Music, and Astronomy.  The home lends itself to other pedagogical endeavors as well, be it architecture, literature, art, or the natural sciences.  We invite or welcome others to use the inspirational setting to gather and spread their knowledge about the mysteries of the universe in both scientific and artistic expression. The home may also find use as a venue for particular events.  These paid reservations support the mission and also fund the preservation of this historic home. Located in downtown San Antonio, the Maverick Carter House, a Texas Historic Landmark and Victorian home built in 1893, is available for elegant private events of all kinds. The home stands a few yards from the San Antonio River Walk and it is directly adjacent to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. All the furnishings within the home are original and along with the incredible Alfred Giles architecture, creates a magical charm as a backdrop for any venue. The grounds provide many different areas for entertaining, from an elegantly designed John Troy landscape in the front to an expansive area at the back for tenting and tables and chairs. Whether it’s a cocktail party, luncheon, dinner, wedding, rehearsal dinner, fundraiser or a small or large event on the outside grounds, the Maverick Carter House is the perfect place to host a memorable unique event like no other found in this city.
